Ravena Rescue Squad Inc. provides primary 911 emergency medical response and ambulance transport to a service area of more than 70 square miles along the western shore of the Hudson River in southern Albany and northern Greene Counties. Our coverage area includes the Village of Ravena, the Town of Coeymans, and the Town of New Baltimore, as well as a designated section of the New York State Thruway (I-87).
We operate as an Advanced EMT-level agency, meaning our crews are trained and equipped to deliver a level of care above traditional Basic Life Support, including advanced airway management, IV therapy, EKG monitoring, and the administration of certain medications under medical control.
Beyond emergency response, we serve our community through public education and training. We offer American Heart Association CPR certification courses, Hands-Only CPR training, Stop the Bleed instruction, and SafeSitter Essentials babysitter courses. We also provide non-emergency standby coverage for community events, sporting tournaments, and large gatherings on a contracted basis.
The squad answers approximately 1,200 calls per year and maintains a roster of 24 to 30 active EMTs and Advanced EMTs working in shifts to ensure round-the-clock coverage every day of the year, including holidays.
The Ravena Rescue Squad Inc. is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that sets organizational policy, oversees finances, and provides strategic direction. The Board meets regularly to ensure the squad remains accountable to its members, donors, and the community we serve.

The Ravena Rescue Squad was founded in 1960 by members of the Ravena Hose Company No. 1, who recognized the need for dedicated emergency medical care in the community. Operations began in 1961 with a used Cadillac ambulance, and in its first year the squad answered 165 calls. After more than six decades of continuous service, we remain rooted in the same mission that has guided us from the start: to deliver the highest quality emergency medical care to our neighbors, day or night, every day of the year.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we depend on the generosity of our community to maintain equipment, train our EMTs, and keep our ambulances responding 24/7. Every contribution is tax-deductible and goes directly toward serving our neighbors.
